Whew man, the past week has been a whirl wind and things in my house are just starting to get back to normal. Not only did I get to meet a bunch of indie authors and buy a bunch of signed books, I also got to meet a good number of the friends I’ve made on bookstagram over the past almost year.
I was absolutely blown away at how welcoming, warm, and helpful everyone who was there was. This community has blown me away at how supportive the authors are of each other. Each one supporting the next, L.R. Friendman the author I was assisting was even able to do a book swap with Elise Kova. The Elise Kova.
The ball was a dream masked in fog as we danced the night away, I honestly wish I had gotten more pictures, but the ones I do have are up on my instagram (squidney_skye). I think back to that night and smile. I had never truly found that girl group that I fit into until I met my online friends in real life. Yes, I know growing up the adults always said never meet your internet friends in the real world, but honestly I was not disappointed and we got to have the best time together. I spent so much time laughing, and dancing and just loving that I had found my people and the community I had unbeknownst to me been looking for my entire life.
While selling books on Friday and Saturday, I got to meet so many new readers and share my love for some of my favorite books with them. If you haven’t read The Blaze Legacy by L.R. Friedman there’s a readalong happening right now on instagram and the books are on KU you should run not walk. I love the books that I was able to buy even more so because of the memories that go along with them. Nothing beats a good book to read that has a great memory tacked onto it.
I will be back to my normal book reviews, I actually have one coming later on this evening for you guys to enjoy. If you ever have the opportunity to attend something like books, gowns and crowns I highly recommend.
