Separated and on opposite sides of the continent, Salome and Crispin continue to amass an army to face their sister while avoiding other enemies set on killing them before they get close to Northwind.

In the Isles of Myr, Salome meets her mother’s kin while facing the ugly truth of her family’s past and her potential future as a magic wielder.

Trapped in the cutthroat Kingdom of Pulau, Crispin makes a deal with the pirates of the Shadow of Death to get him off the island and returned to his companions. But their service comes at a price.

Fully aware of her siblings’ survival and whereabouts, Niabi is left to face her past and embrace the darkness growing within her. With usurpers coming for her throne and traitors in her own court, Niabi readies herself for war.

Writing Style

I love the multople POVs in this book and how each different perspective drives the plot forward. I love seeing the different aspects of the story, as well as how the different characters handle the conflicts that are thrown in their direction. I love being able to learn more about who the characters are an watch then grow into the people they were meant to be. The tension in this book is almost palpable, you can taste it with each passing chapter, and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes us. Since its the last book of the series I expect the plot to boil over at some point during it and I cannot wait.

My Opinions

I cannot wait to see what happens when Salome and Niabi finally meet. I wonder if there’s going to be some kind of explosion of violence that happens between them, but whatever happens its going to be really big. I also can’t wait to see what happens with Crispin, I wonder if this whole story is going to end with him accepting or abdicating the throne for the life he would prefer. I don’t know if Salome should lead since she is comparing her actions to Niabi’s actions however I feel like because she is aware of how similar they are she will be able to keep herself in line. But she also has Jinn, but no offense to Jinn I was rooting for Adonijah like hard. I can’t believe he did her like that and I also can’t believe the secret we learned about him in this book. Now the question is, will Salome marry Jinn because of Adonijah’s huge reveal or will she forgive Adonijah? I for one can’t wait to find out.
