Legend of the Huntress – Book Review

By K. Godin

Blurb:

Skylahr Reed had been nothing more than the outcast for her twenty-two years and has finally grown to accept it. But when a fever hits the village of Noorde Point, she is the only one who can find the courage to venture past the town’s gates in hopes of finding a cure.

Forced to venture into the unknown lands of Elrin, Skylahr soon discovers every tale she had been told as a child had been false. The war of the Gods was not just a myth and the evil Goddess; the Seductress and her Crimson army, are well and truly alive.

Thrust into a world of chaos and death, Skylahr is forced to make impossible choices and trust those around her. Including the dark and dangerous Kalian, a man who always seems to be waiting in the shadows. But what secrets is he hiding and will Skylahr be able to protect her untouched heart from him?

Genre: Romantasy, Epic Fantasy, Dark fantasy

Intended Audience: Definitely an 18+ book

Trigger warnings?

There is a lot of violence in this book, and a lot of gorey details, along with some light bondage. Please double check if there are trigger warnings but I didn’t have an issue with this book. Its as bad as any other fantasy book.

Writing Style

Consider the author’s writing style. Is it interesting? Why or why not?

Reading LOH was like peeling back the layers of an onion. With each chapter another layer was revealed, and more questions to be asked. There was a lot going on but Godin was able to provide us an interesting story that kept me reading, and diving deeper and deeper in to the world.

Story POV?

The story is told through the eyes of our main character Skylahr Reed. As she discovers her true identity, who she can trust, who she can’t, and what she is truly fighting for.

Character Information

Who are the main characters:

Our FMC is the ever so stubborn, but loving and brave to the point that it gets her in trouble Skylahr. She’s a wonderful FMC but she does spend a lot of time worrying more about others than herself.

Which Character did you find the most compelling and likeable?

Well obviously Skylahr, I could relate to her a lot. But I also really love Ella and Elizabeth together and independently. I love how fiercely loyal they are to their friend.

My Opinions

Did you find a new favorite?

I am definitely interested to see what happens. I really want Kalian and Skylahr together and I’m frustrated with the ending of this first book for them, but I’m also excited to see what is next because he’s still a chosen he’s going to be around. So I’m very excited to see where this story as a whole is going.

What did you feel while reading it?

A lot of Holy Craps and Nuh uh’s came out of my mouth while I was reading it, and I wanted to throw it across the room a handful of times.

Would you recommend?

Definitely a good book for fantasy lovers.
