Brigid knew the superstition, but when her father tried to marry her off, she had no choice but to stowaway on a ship bound for Bhodheas. When sheβs discovered and discarded, her fate seems sealedβ¦until sheβs saved by the ocean and its queen.
Transformed into a syren and given new life, Brigid now has the power to seek revenge on those who wronged her.
Caelum has spent his entire life trying to help those who couldnβt help themselves. After years suffering the cruelty of his pirate father, saving others from a similar fate was ingrained in him. But when heβs unable to save a young girl from being thrown overboard for hiding away, heβs devastated.
Until one day, when heβs thrown into the water by unforeseen forces, he comes face to face with the past, and maybe, with his future.
But thereβs a darkness lurking on the seas they both call home. And Caelum and Brigid have no idea just how intertwined their stories really are

I enjoyed the imagery the author used and the magic system she has set in place seems interesting.

I love Sorcha and Cam. They are my favorite characters because they have back story that is brought up and used throughout the book
π©π³πππππππ:
This book was marketed as an NA book, however I believe it could be a YA novel. The spice isnβt as detailed as other NA books and may be the perfect place for a beginner level smut reader.
There were a lot of places in this book where the writing felt clinical, and I wish the author had gone ore in depth with the back story, and the side characters. I noticed while reading that there werenβt any subplots for the side characters which made the story a bit slower for me.
The author is also repetitive in some places using the same phrase or word over and over. I also wish I couldβve seen more pirate slang other than βAyeβ everytime someone agrees with something someone else says.

This book was a little slow in my opinion. The side characters had no subplots to show us their personalities and I found the writing to be a little repetitive.
This book is a good read, but I think it should be geared more towards YA readers rather than NA smut readers.
Another problem I had with the book was that the plot twist was predictable. I saw it coming, while the cliffhanger at the end is such a good ending. I may read the next one just to see what happens.
I wanted to love this book, 5 stars love this book when I started it but the clinical writing that tells more than shows kept me from really enjoying the read. I think the author needs to slow down and remember to describe sensations and that writing is an art. Yes structure, grammar and spelling is important but I would have loved to have been shown more of what was going on instead of told by the characters thoughts.
This book may not have been my cup of tea but if you enjoy mermaids, pirates, and a grand adventure it might be for you!
