Review of Tell Her Story

A Novella. By Margot Hunt

Performed by Dakota Fanning, Lj Ganser, Vikas Adam, Emily Bauer, Ann Osmond, Fred Berman, Jonathan Davis, and Laura Darrell.

I was meandering through my Audible books available, and I stumbled onto Tell Her Story, a novella by Margot Hunt. It was only a couple of hours long, and as a fan of True crime podcasts; my curiosity peaked. I shrugged my shoulders, stuck my headphones on and started cleaning the house.

It seemed the perfect way to kick off this spooky season.

I was surprised to see that one of the voice actors is Dakota Fanning. I had no idea she was voice-acting.

So, getting into a general synopsis:

Paige is a disgraced reporter worker working as a server while living out of her sister’s guest house. Her sister, Ash comes up with the idea that she should start a podcast and investigate a 20-year-old hit and run. The story itself holds the air of a true crime podcast as Paige figures out how to navigate the waters of investigation, and podcasting.

Now for the review…

I’ll start with the positives. I loved the spooky vibe of this story and being able to watch her as she resumes her role as reporter for her very own podcast. Although I feel like I was more excited about the podcast than she was. I’ll be honest, I kind of saw the plot twist coming. I wish the author would’ve increased the tension, and maybe explored some subplots like an actual love interest for our fmc instead of hinting at one before ending the story because it has just left me wanting more. The pacing is great through-out the book, and the plot is cohesive with believable characters. Dakota Fanning brought Paige to life as she narrates for our fmc.

Overall, I would give this one 3.5 stars. I can see the potential; I just wish it were a little longer. Otherwise, this is a great listen I finished it in a couple of hours, and it was free with my audible membership. Absolutely worth it.
